Don’t Buy Leads: How to Build Your Own MLM Business Leads List
If you have a multi-level marketing (MLM) business or network marketing business you know that the most important thing you need to have is a list. Lead list, prospect list, “warm” list, whatever you want to call it, you must have a long list of qualified people who will buy from you and join your business. Without a list, you cannot sell anything or recruit anyone. But first you need to build your list. There are list building methods used in traditional MLM that are time-consuming and unprofitable. There are other methods that are highly efficient and effective. Let’s look at some of both.
Your sponsor told you on day one to make a list of one hundred people you know, used to know, think you know, or would like to know. You then contact them all and try to sell them on joining you in your “amazing business opportunity.” You no doubt found this to be a waste of time. The truth is, your friends and family just want to be your friends and family. And your fourth-grade teacher whom you have not seen in 25 years, and who may have thought you were cute when you were nine years old, does not appreciate being tricked into hearing about your “amazing business opportunity” over a reunion latte at the local Starbucks.
You can do some prospecting or selling to a group of people at once, for example in a living room or conference room setting, or in a seminar-style presentation. This is another traditional selling method that can be somewhat effective, provided you have enough qualified people you can gather together at one time. This method can be expensive depending on the location, facilities needed, etc., so the more people you have in the room, the better your chances of signing people up. Providing, that is, that the people are not there just for the free food. Weigh the time and cost investment against the number and type of people you expect to attend.
Inevitably you end up buying leads from a lead service. These leads are expensive, costing hundreds, or even thousands of dollars, and are almost always not qualified leads, at least to the level they should be. So you take your very expensive list of names and cold call everyone, working first at qualifying them at some level, at least enough to add them to your lead list. Most of these people don’t want to talk to you, nor do they even know why you are calling them. For those precious few that you can actually add to your list, you then spend days, weeks, or months trying to convince them to join you in your “amazing business opportunity.”
Trying to build a list using these methods clearly demonstrates why 95 percent of network marketing businesses fail before they turn a profit. The countless hours spent prospecting people one-on-one combined with the high cost of buying leads from lead services add up to wasted time, wasted money, frustration, and eventually failure.
The solution this problem is to build your list yourself using the many technologies available on the Internet.
Web 2.0 is a catch-all term for websites that feature user-generated content. These sites include video submission sites like YouTube, Viddler, and dozens of others. Social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, Squidoo and many others are the most popular content-sharing sites on the Web. There are also hundreds of social bookmarking sites, E-zines, blogs, and article submission sites that you, being a savvy marketer, can use to distribute content to sell yourself, and position yourself as a leader in your industry and as a successful entrepreneur. Pretty much all of these content sharing sites allow you to place a link to your website somewhere in your profile so visitors can link back to your own website’s capture page where they can opt-in to your program. And the great thing about Web 2.0 is that it is free.
Learning search engine optimization (SEO) strategies will help you get your message to the top of the search engine results. There are several free keyword analyzers on the Web that will help you find the right key words to use in your content posts and websites. WordTracker and HexaTrack are two very good ones.
If you have some money to spend on advertising, pay-per-click (PPC) is a great way to jump-start your lead generation and list building. Google AdWords is the best known of these services, although there are a few others. You have to know what you are doing to get the most out of PPC services, otherwise you will spend a lot of money on very little results. Get some training before you embark on PPC campaigns. But used correctly, PPC is the best way to start building a list quickly.
Another group of popular for-cost tools are services called List Builders. These services give you the ability to buy “ad credits” that allow you to place banner ads on targeted websites with a link back to your capture page. These services can also be used to send out bulk email ads to other members of the service. These services usually work very well, depending on the quality of your ads. ViralURL and ListJoe are two of the most popular list building sites.
Using the Internet to build your MLM business leads list is the way to bring targeted leads to you, rather than having to waste your time trying to prospect people one-on-one. When you build your list with people who found you, rather than you going after them, you have a list full of people who know you, trust you at some level, and are more apt to buy from you and join your business.

What do you want from your goverment? What do you want from your Government?
I am starting to ask myself the question, who am I going to vote for at the next general election? And I now realise that I have a real problem. There is no creditable party now that represent my view point and all I can see is negatives with all of them. Am I the only one? Here is a list of the main policies that I want to see from the next government. Please post any that you wish to see. It will be interesting to see where we stand.
Reduced taxation. I hate this Tax and Spend method of the current government and the cynical approach of stealth taxes. Does he think we are all stupid?
Cost of fuel. Cost to be frozen at around 90p PL unleaded (adjusted for inflation).
a)Permanent freeze on fuel duty.
b)Reducing scale linked to the price of Oil.
Environment. Why does Britain always need to take the lead, set the examples, pay the price? I am sick of it. If this is such an important issue then take real action that will make a difference. Not just headline grabbing knee jerk reactions that will end up costing the population more in TAX.
a)Reopen the debate and make it clear what are the known facts and what is liberal fiction based on undisputable science.
b)If the issue is indeed real, tackle it in the most effective way. Commit to Nuclear power!
Crime. If you do the crime, you do the time.
a)If we need more prisons? Build them.
b)Abolish community orders, ASBO’s and the like. It’s either a fine or prison.
c)Abolish community support officers. Spend the money on real police.
NHS. It’s broken, it can’t be fixed in today’s political correct liberal world and now it is actually seriously DANGEROUS to be a patient on a general ward. Abolish it and divert the funding into private health care for those on low incomes.
Education. Abolish most of the politically correct social agendas inserted into then national curriculum over the last 30 years. Focus valuable teaching time and recourses in the important areas: Reading, Witting, Mathematics, IT, etc. Turn the clock back 50 years and let that be the bench mark.
Europe. I am split on this one – LOL. It has many benefits for industry and business but also huge downsides to freedom and democracy. What would the economic impact be on jobs and the economy be if we withdrew completely? I just don’t know.
I want a government that doesn't cater to the rich and the special interests. Both parties are guilty of this. I want a government that functions in my best interests, not along the lines of bi-partisan crying. I want a government that is strong and willful yet compassionate and caring. I basically want the government that I was told was created for this country. How did the rich and powerful come to take it over? I want a government that works for all, not just a privileged few.References :
good question, im with you on the nhs point. i am a newly qualifed staff nurse and there are not any jobs to apply for as the nhs is in so much debt that they cant afford more staff. this not only results in poor care being recieved on the wards due to over worked under payed stressed out nurses. also my course is funded by the government so not only was the last three years of my life studying to be a staff nurse a waste of my time, it is also a waste of tax payers money. thanks a bunch tony blair!References :
this isn't a question, it's a speech–but i didn't bother to read it all. take a look at the libertarian party. (lp.org) they believe in minimum govt. "personal freedom / individual responsibility. it makes sense, but we are all addicted to govt "help".References :
Honesty would be a refreshing start.References :
Seal the border, take the oil, kill the pedaphiles, and outlaw liberal thought.References :
I want my government (Canada) to make an example in which others should follow, this being looking into new energies instead of "better" fuels. I want them to learn how to use the budget to the maximum, and not spend -million dollars on flying squirl mating reaserch and put it into the collapsing health care system and give better pay to nurses who must clean up after people who deficate EVERYWHERE and put up with budget cut backs and angry patients. I would like my government to reckognize same sex marriage and legalize marjauana FOR GOOD. I would like the government to stop taking %15 of every dollar from the LCBO PLUS the tax on the case of beer. I would like to see them assist the struggling artists by providing a less competitive collage and University program. Mostly, I would like our government to stop focusing on what the other parties have or have not done, and focus on things they can do as a whole to better our country. Also… I would like Quebec to aknowledge that they ARE CANADIANS, and as such, should not have "in Canada and Quebec" on the legal forms for anything.References : One pissed of Hippie who wants whats best for the country.
Truth, honesty, a promise to not mis-manage our taxes. free travel for the over 60's and under 18's. a massive reduction in 'defence' spending and the money saved to be spent on the health service. Massive investment in education and a significant increase in teaching about social responsibility and respect for other people. Realism when dealing with people who break the law rather than silly punishments like 'asbo's'. An increase in 'coppers on the beat – so they are visible and not hiding in layby's waiting for speeding motorists. A mandatory 5 years for anyone caught stealing a car, 7 years for the 2nd and 15 years for the 3rd, (that might stop the buggers).References :
I want bush and his entire family to pay the piper for all of their crimes. He's president not a Roman Emperor for Christ sake!References :
A big fat APOLOGY for going into Iraq when we didn't even want it in the first place.References :
Good on you ,It's a shame the govenment , who ever gets in power , don't think along the same lines.
I whould add , let the people decide on the issue of bringing back hanging.References :
I want a Government that will
1) Put British people first and kick immigrants out.
2) Scrap the Human Rights act
3) Make the conditions in jails so deplorable they're act as detterants.
4) Bring back law and order with corporal and capital punishment
5) Run government departments as businesses. We've lost good pension rights, so should public servants.
6) Bring utilities back to state owned
7) Clamp down on banks and supermarkets
Stop trying to blame people for global warming, we have little input to CO2 problems
9) Get out of the EU and lower taxes by a cosiderable amount
10) Make MP's accountable. If you made a company mistake in the millions of £'s then you're sacked. Not if you're an MP ?? And if you make a policy to get into government and don't deliver, you're sacked. MP's should be sued to recover as much of the cost as possible.
One last thing, when you have major issues/decisions, then these should be put on the voting card at a general election. For example, the next election should ask us to keep or ditch the £. If it's a democracy, then important issues like this should be upto us.References :
im in ireland and myself and my husband agree that there should be a 6 mth rotation scheme where, the ordinary joe soap, housewife, nurses etc, should kick the td,s out 4 at least 2 years and i guarentee the turnaround in the running of the country would be great, cos they're the people who know what the country needs, and they wouldnt be greedy, all they want is there rightsReferences :
Sounds a good agenda, are you running? Europe the only one you are not sure about, time to leave and let them fall on their own a s s. However politicians careers are built on lies, damn lies and politics, difficult to change these things.References :
The answer to your question is dead simple. As a pensioner I want my State Pension doubled. Any problem with that?References :
Withdraw from the political union and be more like Norway outside the EU but trading in a free zone.
Taxes can only fall if we actually cut the size of government, so this must start at the top.
Less in the HoL, Less in the HoC, No MEP's abolish the 7 English regional governments (yes in place even though voted against)
More powers delegated to the local councils with representatives from local councils actually able to be sent to the HoC.
This is massive voter reform, which would also include none of the above on ballot papers as a voting option.References :
